We are pleased that our community weathered the effects of Hurricane Helene. We are resuming normal operations today and have already begun any remediation that was necessary. Thank you to all of the residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the storm, and to our dedicated team members for continuing to serve the residents throughout.
We are writing now that Hurricane Helene has passed, to share what we will do to recover from the storm. This morning our leadership team is visiting communities that were evacuated, to assess damage from Helene. We will inspect each building to ensure its safety and evaluate what needs repair. Safety of residents and team members is our first priority after a severe storm.
We continue to follow the guidance of our county emergency management offices. This morning they have expressed concerns about dangerous road conditions and continued flooding.
After evacuation orders have been lifted and an assessment of damage is complete, we will make plans to bring residents back from their evacuation sites. Each community’s Executive Director or Administrator will provide detailed communications about this. We urge residents not to make any specific plans to return while we work as quickly as possible to restore safety.
Please join us in sharing thanks for our team members who stayed overnight or evacuated with residents to ensure we can continue to provide for them. Together, we are stronger than any storm!
We are prepared to shelter in place during Hurricane Helene, and everyone is doing well. We are grateful to our dedicated team members for their hard work in preparing for the storm, and for supporting the continued safety and well-being of our residents. We will continue to update as information may become available.
We continue to monitor the potential course of Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine and to follow the guidance of the National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service. At this time, it is unclear what the impact to Florida will be, or whether any of our communities will be impacted. Please know that we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure safety. We will provide updates as our plans develop and the storm’s track becomes clearer.
Our team members within each of our communities are working hard and following their emergency preparedness plans. As part of that plan, communities will be providing ongoing updates as appropriate. Please help us with this effort by calling only as needed.
